Feb 11, 2010 - Marijuana decrim is definitely a good idea. Gov. Lynch is probably too conservative and his aspirations for higher political office (senator) will probably cause him to veto a decrim bill though. You know.....cuzthe message that would send to "the kids"... The 10ther "keep your eyes on the Feds" resolutions are pointless though. Shouldn't we the people be engaged in the gvmnt anyway, and if we're not already what good is a resolution going to do?

Feb 11, 2010 - Only in my basement on Saturday mornings before my Doritos and cartoons. *joke* But seriously, victory is anything that detracts away from government spending resources on policing laws that are unenforceable.

Feb 11, 2010 - Can't a veto be bypassed?
fczwartek Says:
Feb 11, 2010 - Sure but that requires a 2/3 majority vote in both the NH House and Senate. Lynch has vetoed similar legislation in the recent past. Just last year he vetoed a medical marijuana bill, that would have allowed sick people to smoke it (and I think even grow it.) The governor was worried about the message it would send "the kids." The override passed the House by 5 votes (240-115), but failed in the Senate by 2 votes (14-10, needed 16 to pass.)

Feb 11, 2010 - It is my great hope that when he most needs the votes Lynch's record on Med MJ and MJ in general will take a huge bite right out of his ass. He vetoed the bill even after they bent over backwards to make it exactly the way he told them to...up to removing the part where patients could grow their own.

Feb 11, 2010 - 16 to 2! sweet! Can't wait for the ambush interviews you mentioned.
fczwartek Says:
Feb 11, 2010 - He's a play-it-safe politician from the business party that is not going to stick his neck out too far on any social issues. He didn't veto gay marriage, but he attempted to have a bunch of stipulations added to that bill concerning the "rights" of churches not to perform the ceremonies. He wants to be senator, so I don't expect he'll be backing MJ decrim anytime soon (or ever.)
