Marijuana arrests have nearly doubled from 1991 to 2009, increasing by 150% during the 1990s and increasing steadily in recent years, producing an annualized change of 6.56% per year during this period. Overall, levels of marijuana use in the United States have remained fundamentally unchanged during this period. Population estimates of annual marijuana use, for example, have remained relatively constant over the last five years at approximately 25 million individuals. From 2003 to 2007, the number of annual marijuana arrests increased by 2.93% per year, while the number of annual marijuana users decreased by 0.21% per year. The overall marijuana arrest rate of between 3% and 6% of users is not enough to represent a meaningful deterrent.

Aug 18, 2010 - In 72, I was arrested for possession of oregano. It was even in a spice jar. The officer even made an illegal search and seizure to get it out of the glove box. I was 17 living in Georgia at the time. The charges were dropped 38 years ago, but it stayed on my record until I discovered it, when applying for a carry permit. Then I found two other false arrests that had cascaded on my record due to the first. It cost a few dozen hours of my time and a bunch of money to have them expunged.

Aug 20, 2010 - Our bill of rights amendment number nine, when you look at the enumerated 21st words "intoxicating liquors" the worst drug man has ever known. "the enumeration in the constitution of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people". ALL other intoxicants shall be the right of the people to use, the laws against are the crimes.
