Books: Steppenwolf - Hermann Hesse.Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien. The Discworld novels - Terry Pratchett.Anything by Bill Bryson, Spike Milligan, Stephen Clarke.Biographies and factual books.
Movies: I like all genres of film, but I have a particular fondness for european cinema, particularly French. A list would be endless so I'll come back to that another time.Shows, er, CSI; Law and Order; Peep Show; The IT Crowd; Seinfeld; Curb Your Enthusiasm; Without a Trace; Supernatural; Life on Mars, again I could go on.............
Music: My two main musical passions are Classical and Metal/Rock. Classically I'm mainly interested in 19th century romantic music, mostly piano/piano concertos. I'm a huge Alkan fan. Apart from the mainstream I've discovered a host of neglected composers from that period, a lot of whom you'll see in my videos, I hope by doing this to promote their work and to inform those who aren't aware of it, that there is more to listen to than the 'usual suspects'! As far as the metal/rock goes, from the Foo Fighters, Led Zep, Black Sabbath to Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, Satyricon, Kyuss, Strapping Young Lad, Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Monster Magnet, Rammstein, Slayer, and my absolute favourite band on the planet, the Swedish prog/death metal band, Opeth.
I'm a 40 year old classical music loving metalhead! Pretty odd combination I admit but it works for me! After many years listening to the 'usual suspects' (as far as classical music goes) I started searching through the waifs and strays, the negleted composers of the romantic period and discovered a treasure trove of unknown or rarely played works. Rather than concentrating on uploading the normal stuff I'll be putting up as much rarely played/heard pieces as I can and if I can manage to make just one person interested in a composer or work they haven't heard before then it's well worth it. You'll also find what I think are exceptional performances of well known works. I'm a big film fan too, especially French cinema, but I like all genres, I'm no snob! So movie soundtracks will pop up now and then. I hope you enjoy the music I put up, comments are always welcome!Judge Rules White Girl Will Be Tried As Black Adult
